Concussion can create anxiety and depression and emotional volitility.

CBT is based on the principle that thoughts and feelings influence a person’s behaviour. Thoughts can lead to certain feelings, which in turn can lead to behaviours. The concept of CBT is to train someone to think more like a scientist, to examine whether the thoughts he is having are valid or supported by evidence. The patient learns not to accept any thoughts that come into his mind without examining them and being skeptical of their validity.
CBT therapists teach their patient to recognize negative thought patterns and substitue them with more realistic ones. Rao, Vani and Vaishnavi, S, (2015) The Traumatized Brain, John Hopkins University Press, p. 51.
